The idea which unites the musicians of the Europlane Orchestra - a permanent jazz orchestra from Central European Countries under the sponsorship of INCE-CEI (Central European Initiative), and directed by the Italian pianist Roberto Magris in Trieste (Italy) - is to provide an analysis, a study and a summary of the terms of the jazz tradition in a european key with reference to the future development of jazz, aiming at promoting a collaboration with the best jazz musicians of the Central European Countries. Since its foundation in 1998 the Europlane Orchestra has partecipated in many international jazz festivals - including the famous "Newport Jazz Festival 2000" in Turin and "Udine Jazz 2001"- has performed at the Summit of CEI-Central European Initiative held in Trieste in 2001 and has recorded 2 Cds: "Live at Zooest" in 1998 and "Plays Kurt Weill" in 2000, that met a favourable response among the international jazz critics and magazines. The musical peculiarity of the Europlane Orchestra is the great impact of the sound, like a sort of a "small big band", with special attention for the original arrangements and compositions, echoing the european jazz and folk tradition.
